Book Giveaway

Pink Saturday this week is about sharing front porches. I haven't decorated mine for Christmas yet, so I'm sharing old photos today.

This is my front porch when it snowed a few years ago.

My grandmother's front porch on the empty old log cabin where my dad grew up.
Like the coal miners daughter's song "Nothing lives here anymore except the memories"...

The porch of the library where I work.

Dothan on the front porch trying to reach the hummingbird feeders.

I'm having a giveaway!
I'm giving away two books to one lucky winner.
This Vintage Cake cookbook by Julie Richardson..

 .

And this sewing book, Pretty In Patchwork Holidays by John Q Adams.

All you have to do is follow my blog and leave a comment on this blog post.
Easy as pie!

Ms. Wilma and I will draw a name out of the hat next Saturday, December 8, 2012.

Good Luck,
Have a great weekend,

Vintage Baby Dolls

Good Monday morning. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, and survived Black Friday.
I do not go, but my co-workers do, and they told some hair-raising stories this morning!

Y'all know I'd rather shop on eBay anyway.
The front door was missing on the doll house but I got a great deal.

My hubby is building shelves for the sewing room so I can put these dolls on display.
I told him that would be a wonderful Christmas gift!

Tiny Tears will look sweet rocking in this little chair.

Effanbee doll from the 1950's.

Bride doll from the 1950's.

Christmas candy boxes.

We visited with family and old friends over the holiday week-end.
My husbands high school buddy just had a liver and kidney transplant for which he was truly thankful.
Church was good yesterday morning.
I am thankful for all of God's many blessings.

Happy Holidays,
from my house to yours.

Happy Pink Saturday

My swap partner, Chris, received her package so now I can show you the houses
and snowmen I made for her.

These were fun to make.
I have some larger houses I am planning to paint and decorate and put around the tree this year.

The snowmen I made out of polymer clay and then "snowed" them onto a vintage bottle cap.
Their top hats came from a Christmas pick.

I put a vintage Christmas card copy inside the shadow box.
Wish I hadn't used so much glitter!

These little reindeer were buttons.

I'm getting in the Christmas spirit already and we haven't even cooked the
Thanksgiving Turkey yet!

I would love to stay home and make things every day.
One more year till retirement, if I last that long!

Have a great weekend,
and a Happy Thanksgiving,
from my house to yours.

Christmas House Swap

Blog swaps are so much fun. Look at this gorgeous Putz House Chris sent to me.
And her house lights up! Love that.

She used aquarium pebbles for the chimney. How creative is that?
And look at Santa going down the chimney. Sweet.

She made ornaments for the tree.

And a stocking stuffed with Mary Englebreit goodies.

This was a fun swap, I enjoyed it a lot.
Thank you Chris Little @ www.alittlecreations.blogspot.com

And thanks to Erica at www.goldeneggvintage.blogspot.com
for hosting the swap.

Y'all know I've been to eBay this week, this turned out to be the cutest coloring book, it has adorable graphics.

These are some of my wins this week.

1950's coloring book. I get these unused but I swear I always want to sit right down and start coloring in them when they arrive. (LOL, I don't!)

My mother must have loved tea sets because my sister and I got one every year when we were little.

We made playhouses outside  under the trees at the edge of the woods with pine straw and tree limbs, anything we could find!

I didn't win the piano I showed last week, but I did get this one, and it looks just like my real piano. Even the white padded bench is just like mine!

These squeaky toys are not for Ms. Wilma.

I'm still bidding on these vintage Christmas candy boxes.
Love the pictures on them.

And OH!
Have you been to Erica's Etsy shop?

Look what I found there:

She made this bird ornie and he is going on my vintage silver tree this year.

And so are these cuties.

She has lots of cute things in her shop, loved the little Santa she sent!

Toys, Toys, Toys

Dear Lord, deliver me from evil and PAH-LEEZE keep me off of eBay.

Vintage Rummy Cards

I'm pretty sure I had one of these when I was little.

I wanted the piano for Jasmine's dollhouse.

Dad built this dollhouse for Jasmine his last Christmas with us.
She asked me to put it up and keep it for her, so I have.
I'm going to add the piano to it.
She also got furniture for the house that year.
And there's little Alyssa sitting on the floor playing with her dollies.

Hugs,
from me and Ms. Wilma

Chummy Got Married

Chummy married her police officer!
Wilma and I cried.

You can watch it again today in full length on www.pbs.org

Some of my eBay finds.

I lost my head a little bidding on this one.

I'm looking forward to looking thru this scrapbook.

Papier Mache 1930's toy.
He's a little scary looking.
I've read too much Stephen King.

I like collecting these old children's toy sewing machines.

Kissing Thumbelina is sweet.

Hope you have a great week.
