Easter Banner

I finished my banner today. I used scrapbook papers, bias binding tape, hot glue and a paper cutter. Easy as pie!  This is where I got my ideas:

Easter Mantel

Happy Friday!

I'm off tomorrow, yea. I finally got out some of my Easter decorations and decorated the fireplace mantel in the den. I am making a banner to hang up too, haven't finished it yet. I would rather decorate for Easter than Christmas, don't know why. Here are some of my bunnies:

The bunny and chicks on the right were made by Vivian at Viv's Whimsy.

Hensrule has just recently been awarded with the Liebster Bloggers Award. This is such a fun award for me to win because of its meaning. In German Liebster means dearest, beloved or favorite.

We were awarded with this honor by Pammy at , who tells us that as part of the tradition it is passed along to 5 bloggers that have motivated and inspired. Pammy is an inspiration herself with her passion for preserving heirloom plants and herbs for future generations.
Thank you, Pammy, for this award.

The City of Fair Hope

Hello everyone,

I'm so far behind I think I'm first!  We have been blessed this week at the library with donations, and I've been busy processing and cataloging. I don't know when I'll get finished. Just look at some of these titles:

And at least that many painting books and biographies and books about England, Ireland, and Scotland.
I feel a little giddy and light-headed, I think I died and went to heaven! (Did I mention I was falling behind?)
I Can't Stop Reading!!

This past week-end we had the pleasure of going to the Fairhope Crafts and Art Fair in the beautiful City of Fairhope. For those of you who have never heard of this place, here is a brief description from wikipedia:

Fairhope was founded in November, 1894 on the site of former Alabama City as a utopian single tax colony by the "Fairhope Industrial Association": a group of 28 followers of economist Henry George who had incorporated earlier that year in Des Moines, Iowa.[4] Their corporate constitution explained their purpose in founding a new colony:
"to establish and conduct a model community or colony, free from all forms of private monopoly, and to secure to its members therein equality of opportunity, the full reward of individual efforts, and the benefits of co-operation in matters of general concern
for more info go to This is just a small sample of what we saw:

Beautiful Azalea Trail Maids from Mobile were on hand for photos.

Several artists were there selling their wares.

So many pretty things.

Easter things.

To see more photos you can check my facebook page.

We finished off Saturday by going to my son Jeremy and brother, Chuck's house and cooking out. They grilled steaks, cooked a feast, a good time was had by all.

By Sunday morning I couldn't crawl out of bed!

And last but definately not least, look at what I won from sweet Sue Smith at

This was in my mailbox when I got home from work yesterday:

Vintage Sheet Music, vintage magazines, beautiful old photos, buttons, and very pretty vintage postcards! I'm so lucky! Look at the smiling faces in this photo:

Thank you Sue!!

Today is the first day of Spring. Our weather is already in the 80's and pretty and sunny.
I hope everyone has a truly blessed week.

Love, from me and Wilma

Scene of the Blog

Hi everyone and good Monday morning. Guess what? I'm so excited because this Wednesday, March 14, I will have a guest appearance on "Scene of the Blog" with Cathy at! So go on over and check it out Wednesday and you will see where I blog and read and play on my days off from the library. I love this site, I get to read about new books I may want to read or order for our library. And I get to meet so many other bloggers out there like me who love books, too. Thank you, Cathy for having me as your guest!

Speckled Eggs

Oh what a beautiful day! Spring is just around the corner in our part of the country.

I went home for lunch to check up on Wilma since my husband is gone to the fish camp and she really didn't like me leaving her alone all day. So, I took her for a walk and we gathered the eggs from the henhouse.
Then we looked at the flowers and garden and picked a few azaleas.

The hens have really started to lay. They like this warmer weather.

So we put our flowers in some water and put them in the kitchen window.

Oh, I wanted to stay home and read and look out the window. Maybe sit out on the porch.

Fruit trees are in bloom. But, lunch hour is over, time to go back to work.

"I helped you gather eggs, WHY can't I go with you??"

Good day,
~~From me and Wilma~~
