Vintage Blue Birds

Lefton Blue Bird Salt and Pepper Shakers
I wish sometimes I could collect everything I wanted...

Lefton Miss Dainty Wall Pockets

Lefton Miss Priss Kitty Jam Jar

Lefton Puppy Pal Wall Pocket

Lefton Wall Pockets
Very Collectible

Another Miss Dainty

OK, I've dreamed enough.
I'd have to get a second job to bid on these cuties.

I'm running out of shelf space for my toys.
When I was a little girl, my favorite daydream was living in a toy store.
When I wasn't wishing I was Nancy Drew, or Dale Evans or....
well, you get the picture!

I'm cataloging new books for the library.
See that Ian Rankin on the top?
I'm reading it now, and it's a page-turner, I'm enjoying it a lot.
I do love British mysteries. This features Rebus, the Scottish Detective, one of my favs.

Patterson flies off the shelf. Evanovich has a new one. Peter Robinson's
"Watching The Dark" is next on my list.

If you want to laugh your head off, read one of Carl Hiaasen's books.
"Safe House" by Chris Ewan got good reviews.
It's raining pretty hard here today, good reading weather.

And I'm still playing with valentines.
I found those vintage French Bingo cards from Stampington & Co.

These little girl with doxie tags are available on eBay.

I hope you find something fun to do with the rest of your week.
Life's too short not to!

Much love,
from Dorothy and Ms.Wilma

Being a collector is expensive!

Those are neat items.

I have to make myself not keep adding to some of my collections.

Hi Dorothy! I love to read and have always been an avid reader. I have slowed down quite a bit because my eyes seem to get to tired these days. I bought a Nook, which is wonderful because I can enlarge the print, but it's not the same as a real book in your hands. Enjoyed visiting!

Dorothy,
I love the vintage lefton, norcrest blue birds also... I started buying them when Michele came across them on flickr I just bid and hope I get lucky ..The bluebirds in my kitchen I bought for a good price because they had a hairline crack....you can't tell and they look great!.... I am really collecting them for Michele right now ...my collection will start when she gets into her own house. Right now her and her husband are with us...If I had it my way they could live with us forever :) They have alot of money saved but I want them to save a little more because it really is hard out there. Seriously I am so upset that you haven't recieved your package and if it doesn't come tomorrow...I'm sending out a new one Friday...

Just wait, I'll end up with two of them! If I do, I'm sending you and Easter package! :-)
I might do that anyway....

That picture of your own personal "toy shop" makes me want one, too!!
What is a wall pocket for? These really puzzle me!
Ian Rankin's Rebus is one I like reading, too, although his are really rather "dark" mysteries and I usually prefer the cosier stuff.

I will buy less-than-perfect things if I can get a good price...I don't mind a little love or wear and tear. I love the blue birds and the Miss Priss Kitty. Something about those cute little things just makes me happy. Thank you for sharing your book choices. You have the best taste in British mysteries!

My daughter has the Miss Priss Kitty cookie jar (cream coloured) - it sits on top of her fridge :)

I just finished Standing in Another Man's Grave and loved it. It's great to have Rebus back after a five year absence.

Unknown said...

Yes, I'm glad to read about Rebus again too!

I picked up one Miss Priss salt shaker at the thrift store for 1.40! I walked the isles up and down for the next 35 minutes hoping to find the mate. So, one kitty sits on my craft table!

Oh, I am a Lefton Lover, too! The few pieces I have were Lucky Buys on Ebay - and a few were given to me. OHHHHH - but your doll collection and your vintage toys are adorable - so precious! Lucky girl!

My late mom used to have similar looking bluebirds but they were not salt and pepper shaker. I love the ones you featured. They are so adorable!

I am a shelver at our local library and I've shelved PLENTY AND PLENTY of books by the authors shown in your second and third book photos!

Plenty and plenty.

I love the sweet bluebirds...they are good luck, you know! And your shelves are just full of all the things I love! Can I come over and play? Sweet hugs!

I forgot to say earlier that we have a set of 5 nativity figurines that are Lefton and I also have a tiny china forget-me-not on white basket that is Lefton. (It appears you do love to collect Lefton.)

Also, I have to chuckle at your blog title Hensrule and wonder if the NEXT part of it would be Cocksdrool. I just can't help the irreverent humor of my brain. ;-)

I love that, Keetha!

After seeing all those pictures, I want to collect them too! They drip sweetness. I have to wonder if the new Evanovich is any good. They started to get a little blah after like number 13 in the series. I do love a funny read though. Great blog!

Unknown said...

I agree, Melissa. I burned out on Evanovich after awhile. Her characters are funny, though, especially the grandmother and the crossdresser friend!
Thanks!
