Cooked Lobster

We went, we saw and we conquered!
This was my little piece of heaven yesterday.
See all those heads bobbing in the water?
One of them was mine, all day long!
And yes, my back looks like a cooked lobster this morning!
Gosh, it was worth it!

We arrived early before the crowds got there and got a good spot under the shade trees.
It's a good thing we didn't take Wilma because there was a great big sign that said "NO PETS"!

Have I mentioned that a couple of months ago, my mother moved in next door to me?
She and my husband have this sort of love-hate relationship. (They love to hate each other)
Been going on for forty years, so it makes my life a whole lot of fun, let me tell you.

Well, a few weeks ago, she fell down in her kitchen and fractured her ankle. We spent the night in the hospital with her, and she has to wear the boot on her foot, she has the cast off, now.
I have a lady that sits with her everyday while I'm at work, and at night I take her supper, and get her ready for bed.

Well yesterday, right after we got to the lake, my cell phone rings, and its guess who?
She wants to know if I'm home.
No mam, I tell her, I'm at the lake, remember?
"Oh, I thought you were home, I just needed you to pick up my meds, don't come home on my account. I'll get Elayne (her sister) to go get them.
Are you staying all week-end?"

No mother, I tell her, just for the day, remember I told you?

This is what my life has been like for the past few weeks, and also did I mention that at 75 years of age, two years after my dad passed away, she has taken up SMOKING again? And she falls asleep smoking????

Well, girls, let me tell you. I needed a break, and I feel WONDERFUL  today!
All rested up and fixing to get ready to go to church.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend.
And smile, it could be worse!!

Lots of love,
from me and Ms. Wilma

What a perfect way to spend the day! You really DID need a break! Take care and put some Aloe Vera on that sunburn! Hugs!

Hah! Saw your post title and thought...that Dorothy, she'll be kickin' back and enjoying a deluxe seafood cocktail......how wrong was I?????

Anyway, do as Lavender Dreamer says and slap some aloe Vera on that frizzed skin - EXACTLY what I'm doing after foolishly sitting out in the garden chatting on Friday, and forgetting to put the high factor on. We get out of the habit of living in really hot sunshine, you see!

Ah, dependent mothers. I'm so understanding your position, luckily my mum loves my other half and he is incredibly tolerant. But, it's hard at times, isn't it? Just the expectation that you can and will drop everything in an instant for non-urgent 'wants'. Heaven help me if I get like that! Hope your day out made up for it! Lx.

Not easy...is it? I am so sorry that your life has become like this..... but glad that you are able to get away days (even if your back did turn oyster red) just to recharge your batteries!! Make sure you get more of them my friend! Joan

Hi Lynne, I'm glad you're enjoying the sunshine, too! I had a wonderful time, thank you!

Thanks Joan. It's just something we all have to get through. It could be worse. At least mom is still around, this morning in church, my uncle sang the special music. He's our choir director and he decicated the song to his mother (my precious grandmother) whose birthday was May 30. She would have been 99 years old. She's been gone now 12 years and we miss her so much, she was the SWEETEST woman on earth, I promise.

It is very hard taking care of an aging parent and you definetly need to take breaks or you will be ill yourself. Glad you got to get away for a day.

Sounds like a great day.

Oh my...! I'm sure this has been a challenging past few months to say the least. You are a wonderful person to assist your mother... no matter how difficult it may be at times xx Glad you had a great day - you definitely needed and deserved the break :)

Oh no, but I thought you were going to have a lobster recipe and my mouth was watering.

Take care of your back.
