I love children's books.
Especially the older ones.
They have the sweetest pictures and hold the best memories.
Times were better, I still believe.
They don't make them like this anymore.
I have my favorites now, too.
Will Hamish ever find true love?
If you haven't read this series, you're in for a treat.
Flavia de Luce is adorable.
Another good British mystery series.
I jumped for joy when I saw I was partnered up with my friend, Shirley, from Zetta's Aprons
for the next swap!!
Wilma sends her love, she's too busy to talk, her best friend Huey P. Long is staying with her this week.
(Poor Huey)
He can only stand so much sugar from Wilma!
Have a Blessed Week,
Dorothy

Definitely - the illustrations in the older children's books are just so much better...great post!
Looks like Ms. Wilma is giving Huey a lot of good lovin'!
Those are very cute pictures.
Yes, the illustrations were the sweetest! I love them, too! Wilma and Huey should have lots of fun this week! Hooray!
Blessings,
Susie
Not sure about "the times" being better in general in those days - our memories are, of course, very much tinged with nostalgia. But old children's books are lovely, and I don't ever want to part with mine!
How nice for Wilma to have her friend staying over :-)
Hi, partner! Thanks for posting the Hamish Macbeth book...I immediately went to Amazon to order it for my Kindle. I sure wish that the downloads were cheaper...sometimes you can get the hardbound copy at Costco for less than the Kindle version...lol!
Enjoyed the books. Wilma is so sweet.
Oh, I LOVE the Flavia De Luce books!! I've read the first 4. Wilma and Huey are so cute. :-) Such sweet illustrations. I love the vintage children's books, too, but also love many of the current ones.
It sounds like we have a few things in common, Dorothy! I, too, love to see children's books that bring back memories. I could look through them for hours when I come across them at thrift stores. I also love British mysteries! : ) I read M.C. Beaton, but her Agatha Raisin series. I just finished a bunch of books I picked up at our library's book sale and am hoping the new Elizabeth George will be available at my library when I go. They don't always have the new ones right away. Do you watch any of the BBC America British mystery shows? I caught Whitechapel and Ripper Street, which I thought were both very good. Unfortunately, they won't have any new episodes until 2014 now.
Aw the dogs are too cute! I love the illustrations in the children's books! :) And your new header is pretty too!! :) xo Holly
I love your pictures, and I agree with you about the older childrens books...they are delightful, as is your blog.Blessings,
Linda
Love those old children's books. They have such cute pictures.
I too adore the images from old books as they were simpler times. I remember because I am old. ;o)
Old books are the best books, I think. My absolute favourite book of all time is one called "Sally's Family" which was written some time in the 40's and is about a girl who gathers together all her brothers and sisters from their foster families after the war. Damn, I love that book.
I love the graphics in old books! Chris
Such sweet graphics!!! Have a wonderful week! xo Heather

I just love the graphics in your older books . . . there is a charm from that era that's missing today :)
I agree with you, old children's books have something special. :D
You always have the sweetest photos (and find the best stuff on Ebay : ))
I love holding a book, a real book. Reading has always been my escape. Kisses to Ms. Wilma and friends. XOXOXOX
